So this nocturnal little companion is said to roam the grounds of the forests near the mines. People would come across a light in the distance signifying the presence of the carbuncle. They were said to protect a very valuable treasure (some DARE say it was the gem located on the creatures forehead, and some say that it had other more valuable items for people who perform the ritual) Those who went too close or tried to capture the creature were often left blinded by a bright light that emanated from the creatures gem.

The ritual was extremely complicated and I do not recommend going out carbuncling.
