The first photo shows a Fringecup grove in Forest Park in Portland, Oregon - look close enough and you can see how effectively it is suppressing weeds like Herb Roberts! Fringecup spreads via rhizomes and are excellent self-seeders. When happy they can multiply quickly! They blend very well with other native shade ground covers such as Pacific Waterleaf, Oregon Oxalis, False Lily of the Valley, Western Columbine, etc. Early on they will require a fair amount of moisture, but once established they are quite drought tolerant! Fringecup grows happily in Shade - Part Shade, and in a variety of soil types including clay, loam, and rich forest or garden soil. In mild climates they are semi Winter deciduous-evergreen. Their flowers attract native bees. flies, and hummingbirds!
Because the seeds are so small (slightly larger than dust) it is impossible to count out individual seeds and are instead sold in weight increments of 50mg (150+ seeds) and germination instructions are included.
