  • Fairies are generally described as young, sometimes winged, humanoids of small stature having magical powers. They can be helpful, malicious, or even just playful spirits of delight. They are referenced in many cultures throughout the world and are believed to help to guide the operation of the processes of nature and the growth of plants. Each measures approximately 2" wide by 3" tall.

* Pegasus is one of the best known creatures in Greek mythology. He is a winged divine horse usually depicted as white. He was captured by the Greek hero Bellerophon with the help of Athena and Poseidon. Pegasus allows the hero to ride him to defeat a monster, the Chimera, before trying to reach Mount Olympus. Zeus transformed him into the constellation Pegasus and placed him up in the sky. Technically, as a proper name, "Pegasus" can't be pluralized, though people do use Pegasi or Pegasuses. One article says the corrected latin for "winged horse" would be "pterippos", making a herd of winged horses "pterripi". Each measures approximately 3" long by 2" tall.

* Dragons in western folklore are usually depicted as a huge fire-breathing, scaly and horned dinosaur-like creature, with leathery wings, four legs and a long muscular tail. Typical dragons protect a cavern or castle filled with gold and treasure and are said to be extremely intelligent creatures associated with powerful magic. Each measures approximately 2" long by 2" tall.

* Gryphons are a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. As the lion was traditionally considered the king of the beasts and the eagle was the king of the birds, the gryphon was thought to be an especially powerful and majestic creature. Gryphons are normally known for guarding treasure, and in antiquity they were considered symbols of divine power. Each measures approximately 2-1/2" long by 2" tall by 2-1/2 " wide.

* Unicorns are one of the most famous of mythical beasts. Though the modern popular image of the unicorn is sometimes that of a horse with a spiral horn on its forehead, the traditional unicorn has a billy-goat beard, a lion's tail, and cloven hooves, which distinguish it from a horse. The unicorn is the only fabulous beast that does not seem to have been conceived out of human fears. In even the earliest references they are fierce yet good, selfless yet solitary, and always mysteriously beautiful. Each measures approximately 3" long by 3" tall.
