Store Customization Guide
Your Mayhem page serves as both a product storefront and link-in-bio page. Understanding how to organize it effectively will help you convert more visitors into customers.
How Your Page Layout Works
Mayhem shows your products in two places:
- Homepage: Your top four products appear here alongside your bio and social links
- Store page: All your products are listed here
When someone visits your main Mayhem URL (like mayhem.com/yourname), they see your homepage. If they click "Store", they see your complete product catalog.
Organizing Your Products
The order of products in your "Manage Products" dashboard determines what appears on your homepage. You can drag and drop products to reorder them. The first four products in your list will be the ones featured on your homepage.
Think strategically about which products to feature:
- Put your best-selling or most attractive products first
- Consider seasonal relevance
- Feature products with good profit margins
- Test different arrangements to see what converts better
Setting Up Your Profile
In the dashboard under "Email/Password", you can customize your public-facing information:
Your Bio: This appears on your homepage below your products. Keep it conversational and focused on what you offer. Avoid long paragraphs since most people are browsing on mobile.
Profile Photo: This shows up as your avatar. Use either a clear headshot or your brand logo.
The profile information here is what visitors see when they land on your page, so make sure it accurately represents you and your business.
Adding Social Links
Under "Socials" in your dashboard, you can connect your social media accounts. These appear as clickable icons on your Mayhem page.
Only link accounts that you actively use and that align with your brand. Each social link gives visitors another way to connect with you and can help build trust.
Using Product Variants for Organization
In the product editor's "Stock/Variants" section, you can create different options for the same product (like sizes, colors, or shipping speeds). This is useful for:
- Offering multiple sizes of the same item
- Providing Standard vs Rush shipping options
- Creating different service tiers
- Managing different color options
Each variant can have its own price, which is helpful for things like offering expedited shipping at a higher cost.
Understanding Your Page as Link-in-Bio
Many Mayhem sellers use their page as their primary link-in-bio instead of services like Linktree. This works because your page shows:
- Your products for sale
- Your bio and contact information
- Links to all your social media
- A professional appearance
When you post on Instagram, TikTok, or other platforms, direct people to your Mayhem URL. They can see what you're selling and follow your other accounts all in one place.
Mobile Considerations
Most of your visitors will view your page on their phones. The Mayhem page layout is designed to work well on mobile, but keep this in mind:
- Keep product names short since space is limited on the product cards
- Make sure your main product images look good at small sizes
- Write concise product descriptions for the card view
- Test how your page looks on your own phone
Managing Customer Contact
Your Mayhem page includes ways for customers to contact you, but the specific options depend on your plan and setup:
- Direct messaging through the platform
- Email contact if you've provided it
- Social media contact through your linked accounts
Make sure you're checking your preferred contact methods regularly, especially when you have active orders.
Page Performance Tips
Unlike some platforms, Mayhem pages load quickly because they're designed simply. However, you can help performance by:
- Optimizing your product images before upload (the platform will resize them, but smaller files upload faster)
- Keeping your bio text concise
- Only linking social accounts you actually use
Your page URL is also your username, so choose something that's easy to type and remember when you first set up your account.
Working with the Platform Limitations
Mayhem is designed to be simple, which means some customization options you might expect from other platforms aren't available. For example:
- You can't completely customize the page layout
- Color schemes and fonts are standardized
- Banner images aren't currently supported
The platform focuses on showcasing your products cleanly rather than extensive customization. This can actually be an advantage since it keeps the focus on what you're selling rather than on page design.
Testing and Iteration
Once your page is set up, share the URL with friends to get feedback on how it looks and functions. Pay attention to:
- How quickly people understand what you're selling
- Whether the product order makes sense
- If your contact information is easy to find
- How the page looks on different devices
You can always reorder products, update your bio, or adjust your social links based on what works best for your audience.
